CHARACTERISTICS OF RUBBER COMPOUND WITH NATURAL DYES AND FILLERS

Abstract


The objective of the research was to analyze the characteristics of rubber compound with wooden cup extract and silica fillers form quartz sand and CaCO3 from shell that were added in the manufacture of rubber compound. The research was designed as a Factorial Completely Randomized Design with two factors as treatments, The first factor was the concentration of wooden cup extract (A) which was 3 phr, 6 phr, 9 phr, 12 phr and the second factor was the concentration ratio of silica from quartz sand and CaCO3 from shell (P) which was 10:90 phr, 25:75 phr, 50:50 phr, 90:10 phr. The parameters included the hardness, compression set, density and after aging hardness. The best physical properties result was obtained in the concentration treatment comparison of quartz sand and shells fillers concentration was with wooden cup extraction is treatment P4A3=75:25 with 9 phr, with the following values ; hardness of 65 shore A, compression set of 50%, , density of 1,34 gram/ml and after aging hardness of 65 shore A, met the requirements of the Indonesian National Standards for rubber bearing for motor vehicle machinery SNI 06-1540-1989.
